Stop guessing how much capital an EA needs

VRD Quant reads an EA's MT5 backtest and works out the lot size, operating capital and reserve to set aside for it, so you size on evidence, not on the vendor's sales page.

The problem

“Recommended deposit: $10,000” is a sales number.

It's whatever the vendor tested on. Fund too little and one bad run ends it. Fund too much and capital sits idle for years. Either way you're paying.

Test at your real lot size. In our tests of a popular MQL5 recovery EA, scaling a 0.01-lot run predicted a $3,322 worst drawdown at 0.85 lots; the real 0.85-lot backtest hit $8,399. See our methodology.

What it does

Capabilities

  • Reads MT5 Strategy Tester reports
  • Scales drawdown, margin and losing streaks to your account and lot size
  • Suggests fixed lot, operating capital, reserve and a stop-and-review level
  • Reshuffled-trade (Monte Carlo) drawdown ranges and worst-run estimates
  • Compares several EAs on the same capital basis
Set-up

Running in minutes

Run the EA's backtest at the lot size you'll actually trade, save the report, load it in Quant and enter your account size.

Frequently asked questions

Can I test at 0.01 lots and scale up?

Be careful. Many EAs change how they trade as lot size grows, so a scaled 0.01 test can badly understate real drawdown. Test at your real lot size.

Are the estimates guaranteed?

No. Backtests and simulations are hypothetical. Live drawdown can exceed any estimate.

One EA blowup costs more than the whole suite.

VRD Complete contains single-EA blowups and frees capital you have parked as idle buffers. $149 at launch pricing.
